Finca Nuevo México was founded in 1964 by Don Ricardo Baumann, who emigrated from Germany to Mexico in 1927. As a mechanical technician, Ricardo offered his services to various coffee farms in the Soconusco region of Chiapas. Over the years, he gained extensive experience and knowledge, which eventually led him to acquire his own land.
In 1955, Don Ricardo Baumann began his journey in coffee production, culminating in the acquisition of Finca Nuevo México in 1964. After his passing in February 1974, he left the farm to his daughter, Ilse Baumann. Ilse convinced her son, Ricardo Ibarra (named in honor of his grandfather), to study agronomy so he could one day take over the farm.
In 1986, Ricardo Ibarra graduated as an Agronomist Engineer and immediately set off for Chiapas. There, he found a practically abandoned farm with minimal production, realizing that a significant amount of work was needed.
By 2016, after years of dedication and hard work, Finca Nuevo México had expanded its coffee plantations and achieved record production yields in the country. Its high productivity and exceptional coffee quality helped the farm gain recognition and market its coffee internationally, while continuing to invest in the farm and its infrastructure.
