The Ortez Balladarez Family represents four generations of coffee production in San Fernando, Nueva Segovia. Today, the family operation is led by Norman Ortez Balladarez, who works alongside his father, brothers, cousins, and extended family members in a business that remains deeply rooted in both coffee and family. Over the years, the family has expanded its farming and processing operations while maintaining a structure in which family members remain directly involved in decision-making, production, and day-to-day management. Coffee is not simply a crop for the Ortez Balladarez family; it is the economic foundation that connects multiple generations and supports the long-term development of their community.

The family produces approximately 500 metric tons of coffee annually and operates its own processing infrastructure, including the Guadalupe Dry Mill. Varieties: Catuai, Catimor and Anacafé 14. Processing: Traditional Washed. Altitude: 1,100–1,500 meters above sea level. The farms are managed under pine-shade systems characteristic of northern Nueva Segovia and benefit from abundant water resources, allowing for consistent production and processing throughout the harvest season.

Coffee production is one of the principal economic activities in the region, and the Ortez Balladarez family plays an important role in that local economy. Through farming, harvesting, transportation, processing, and related services, the family generates employment and economic activity for hundreds of people every season. Their operations support workers, transport providers, seasonal harvest crews, and local businesses throughout San Fernando and neighboring communities. Values & Leadership
One of the defining characteristics of the Ortez Balladarez family is the importance they place on responsibility, accountability, and long-term relationships. As a family business, they have built their operation around consistency and commitment. Decisions are made with a long-term perspective, recognizing that coffee production is not measured in a single harvest, but across generations. Even as the operation has grown, leadership and responsibility have remained within the family, preserving a strong sense of continuity, shared purpose, and stewardship over both their business and natural resources.

Bridazul began working with the Ortez Balladarez family two years ago. Beyond coffee quality and production capacity, one of the strongest foundations of this partnership has been a shared approach to business: trust, transparency, and a commitment to doing what was promised. For Bridazul, these values are essential because they create the conditions for long-term relationships, consistent quality, and sustainable growth for everyone involved in the supply chain.
