Sustainability Report - Year 2025
At Common Goal Coffee we recognize our responsibility to the environment, the communities we work with, and the future of the coffee industry. This report highlights our sustainability efforts throughout 2025 and outlines our ongoing commitment to social, environmental, and economic sustainability.
Our Sustainability Goals
- Environmental Impact: Minimize our carbon footprint and encourage sustainable farming practices.
- Social Responsibility: Support coffee producers that pay workers a fair wage, premiums, and educational opportunities.
- Economic Sustainability: Build long-term, sustainable relationships with coffee producers, roasters, and other stakeholders.
Environmental Sustainability
We recognize that sustainable coffee production and responsible supply chains are essential to protecting the environment and preserving access to quality coffee for future generations. In 2025, we prioritized the following initiatives to reduce our environmental footprint:
- Packaging for Reuse: We updated our sample packaging to materials that may be reused and recycled. While local regulations can vary, we believe that encouraging reuse is a great alternative. This approach helps minimize waste and promotes sustainability in the coffee industry.
- Sustainable Sourcing: We work closely with coffee producers who prioritize environmentally responsible farming practices, such as agroforestry, water conservation, and reduced pesticide use. And understand when there is no other choice but to use it. By direct communication with our producers, we help promote sustainable practices that protect biodiversity, conserve water, and prevent soil degradation. We also believe in supporting producers who invest in long-term, multigenerational employment, helping to strengthen community sustainability over time.
- Carbon-Negative Brazilian Producers: We are proud to collaborate with carbon-negative coffee producers in Brazil. These producers implement innovative agricultural techniques and land management practices that not only reduce their carbon footprint but actually capture more carbon than they emit, contributing to the fight against climate change.
Social Sustainability
Our commitment to social sustainability is rooted in creating lasting value for the communities that produce our coffee. We prioritize ethical sourcing, community engagement, and improving the livelihoods of coffee producers and their families:
- Fair Wages and Premiums: We offer premiums to coffee producers that reflect their hard work and commitment to quality. This ensures that they receive fair compensation for their efforts, while also supporting their families and communities.
- Supporting Education: We believe education is one of the most effective ways to empower communities. Through donations and partnerships, we are working to improve education in coffee-growing regions by funding schools, providing scholarships, and supporting teacher training programs. These efforts help create better opportunities for future generations.
- Women’s Empowerment: We are dedicated to supporting gender equality in coffee-growing communities by actively working with women-led coffee businesses and ensuring equal access to resources and opportunities for female producers.
Economic Sustainability
Economic sustainability means creating long-term value through fair, transparent, and mutually beneficial relationships with our partners:
- Long-Term Partnerships: We work with coffee producers who share our values, ensuring that our relationships are built on trust, respect, and fairness. This approach allows us to provide consistent, high-quality coffee while supporting the economic well-being of coffee-growing regions.
- Investing in Communities: We are committed to reinvesting in the communities we work with by supporting local development initiatives and encouraging social enterprise opportunities. We believe building strong, resilient communities is the key to sustainable economic growth.
Our Future Goals
While we are proud of the progress we’ve made in 2025, we recognize that sustainability is an ongoing journey. In 2026 and beyond, we aim to expand our efforts and dedicate more time to these endeavours.
